Now that Scambaiting Forum is open to the public, we need to minimise the risk that scammers might find out about baits posted here via Google.
To that end, here are some guidelines.
1. Conceal names that might be found via Google. If a name is distinctive, perhaps use a different spelling, or abbreviate it (if your baiter name is (say) "Blackadder," render it as "Mr B"). Please do not use leeting, which is to say, replacing letters with numbers and the like (to use the above example, "B14ck4dd3r").
2. Remove any phone numbers, whether those of scammers, baiters, or special services such as the Lennybot. Mark them as REDACTED or similar.
3. Remove any email addresses, whether those of scammers, baiters, or special baiter services. Mark them as REDACTED or similar.
4. Remove any physical addresses that you might have given as part of your baiter persona, or that are part of special baiter services. Other addresses, such as those given in the headers on scammer emails, can be left out; for the most part, they wouldn't add value to the bait. If they should become relevant (for example, if you tell the scammer that you posted something to an address in his header), this can be mentioned in comments on the email.
5. Any distinctive phrasing or spelling that might conceivably be traced to you should be edited or paraphrased in some way.
