I've received many emails supposedly from police who have captured scammers (often with torture involved) and found my details (well, Cammy's or Mal's) on the scammers' phones and/or laptops; sometimes consignment boxes have been seized and need to be sent on, or compensation is offered... all subject to payment of some fee.
The scammer's emails are date-stamped; his name has been changed. My comments are in bold.

Good day Sir, this is inspector Sammy Zongo from Accra regional police command Ghana, sir please stop sending money to the people in Ghana, UK or Nigeria, telling you that they will transfer funds to you they are all criminals, we just arrested some of them now and on going through their phones and laptops we discovered they had defrauded a lot of people including you and this is where we got your phone number and mail I'd from, as I currently speak they are in our costudy for further investigation, so sir please take my advice and stop OK thanks.

That was sent to Cammy... and she had issues with it.
Dear Inspector Zongo
First off, I'm not sir! I'm a woman! Not even my father would be so cruel he'd call a boy Camille.
But the real thing is, you're telling me "please stop sending money to the people in Ghana, UK or Nigeria telling you that they will transfer funds to you they are all criminals" - I've never done anything like that. The work we did for the AFL did involve Nigeria, but we never sent money there. So we never got defrauded.
But you've got me worried; you said you got my phone number and email from some guys' phones and laptops. Who were they? You might have the wrong guys.
Thanks
Camille White

How I min even sure you are not one of them, if I may ask what is your job and can you you identify yourself? here is my whatapp number you can call me on video call.
Emphases are in the original.
So first you think that I'm a man when I'm not (so you were insulting me, not the other way round), and then you tell me not to send money to criminals in Africa, which I wasn't doing anyway.
Then you whine about being insulted, when I hadn't insulted you.
Finally you try to dodge that issue with some bafflegab about me maybe being "one of them", demand to know what I do for a living (I'm a photomodel) and expect me to do a video call on WhatsApp (which I don't use anyway).
Have you thought of getting treatment for ADHD and bipolar disorder? Just asking.

He didn't reply for over a fortnight, and reverted to his original script. For some reason there was a second address on the sent-to line.

I sent the same reply, but added a few words.

I told you before that I'm not sir, because I'm a woman. Why did you make the same mistake? Helvete, not even my father would be so cruel he'd call a boy Camille.
But as I said, you're telling me "please stop sending money to the people in Ghana, UK or Nigeria telling you that they will transfer funds to you they are all criminals" - again, I've never done anything like that; the AFL contract did involve Nigeria, but we never sent money there.
Then you said you got my phone number and email from some guys' phones and laptops, so I had to ask who they were, because you might have the wrong guys.

Sorry Madam, please can we talk on whatapp please??
He should have expected mine!
Inspector Zongo
I don't use WhatsApp, and what difference would it make anyway if we did? The facts stay the same.

That was too much for him. Damn.
