This bait unfolded in the space of just over twenty-four hours as I felt it didn't have much room to manoeuvre.

The scammer's emails are date-stamped, or time-stamped for those on the second day; his name has been changed. My comments are in bold.

So... "I got your email from business website of investors"... well that's interesting. I've never done investment and I'm not a businessman. So why would I be on a "business website of investors"?

I'm a retired US Marine. One of the many duties I carried out was that of guarding US embassies in different countries. I got to meet a lot of officials such as charges d'affaires, attaches... and diplomats. I know what diplomats do. And they don't work for private companies.
