Reverend gentlemen often appear in scammer scripts in supporting roles, such as giving contact details to “little orphan boys”. Less often they take leading roles. Here’s one such occasion...
Scammer names have been changed; their emails are date-stamped. My comments are in bold.

Dear Mr. Malcolm Reynolds,
Greetings to you in the name of the lord! My name is Rev. Daniel Obeng from the Western Region of Ghana. I am a 70-year-old man with a wife and two children. I have a large farm at the back of the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana. I also take care of some orphans and less privileges in my compound. Last Saturday, I hired some workers to work on my farm, while they were working, we saw a metal safe box tagged with your name and phone number as the owner; I think someone stole the box from the airport and hid on my farm.
As an honest and God fearing man, I cannot take what does not belong to me, so I took the box to a reputable bank to open it and see what was inside. When it was opened, we saw $45 million inside and I immediately deposited the money in an escrow account at the bank (ECO BANK GHANA LIMITED) for safekeeping and transfer to you as the owner of the box.
For more information, please contact the Managing Director of ECO BANK GHANA LIMITED, with the contact information below:
Contact person: DANIEL KWARTENG (MANAGING DIRECTOR)
Bank name: ECO BANK GHANA LIMITED
Phone number: + 233 REDACTED
WhatsApp number:- +233 REDACTED
Please let me know after contacting the bank manager for the transfer of the funds. Attached is a photo of the safe box.
Thank you and have a blessed day.
Sincerely,
Reverend Daniel Obeng

I couldn’t call the reverend, but the bank manager was available, so he had to cope with Mal’s acerbic comments.
Mr Obeng
I don't know anything about any boxes of cash, and I can't take what doesn't belong to me either, so that's it I guess. You've gotten yourself a windfall!

Mal updates the reverend gentleman, with a misquoted metaphor, because why not.
Mr Obeng
I spoke to that manager dude and told him to take the money back to the airport. Man's not playing with a full clip, just saying. Like he couldn't take my word that the money ain't mine. Between you and me, I wouldn't leave my money in that bank.

Dear Mr. Malcolm Reynolds,
I write to acknowledge the receipt of your email.
I found the box of the money in my farm which is behind the Ghana International airport in Accra and decided from my heart to return it to the rightful owner which is you.
I can’t keep such huge sum of money in my house, that was why I sent it to the bank and gave them your information I found tagged to the box.
I have instructed the bank to return the money to you.
Contact person: DANIEL KWARTENG (MANAGING DIRECTOR)
Bank name: ECO BANK GHANA LIMITED
Phone number: + 233 REDACTED
My advice is that you follow up with the bank manager and to make sure the money is returned back to you. I will be satisfied when that happens.
You follow up with the banker and keep me informed.
Stay Blessed always.
Regards
Reverend Daniel Obeng
Mal made his feelings clear. He hasn’t got much patience for pushy “men of God”.
Mr Obeng
I told the bank to take the money to the airport.
If you really believe that I'm the rightful owner, then you don't have the right to tell the bank what to do with the money.
Contrariwise, if I'm not the rightful owner, you should not tell the bank to send the money to me.
So you should just shut up and stay out of what doesn't concern you.
Regards
Malcolm Reynolds
Mal called the bank again, and didn’t spare the bank manager’s feelings when “due diligence” was said one time too many.

I left a hope spot by telling them to have the police contact me so I can make a formal statement.
