According to him: He said you are free to come to Turkey so that he can handle the transfer process with you and make sure the Bank wire the fund to your UK account without any hitches.

Or If you can't travel to Turkey now, he will check the Cost of transfer Charges to above fund to be released, so you can pay it to enable them to wire the fund to your UK account.

In view of the previous difficulties we encountered, it will be much safer if I meet with your Turkey officer in person to make the payment in cash. I don't want to run the risk of my mail being interfered with again.

Obviously I need to know who your officer is. Please send me a copy of his ID card. Could you also confirm that he will meet me at the airport? Will payment in British Pounds be acceptable, or would you prefer me to bring Turkish LIra?

Here in the UK, today is a Bank Holiday, so all the banks are closed. Do your offices remain open 365 days a year?

It's too late to get tickets now for this coming week. I also have to book a covid test within 24 hours of departure and a second one on return. I can't just get onto the next available flight.

You are talking as if you are flying to Turkey only to hand over the £5094 to an officer. The Security firm where the fund is deposited in Turkey have many workers/officers .It is against their policy to send the ID of their workers on Air, they assigned one of their officer who will hold BLANK CARD written your name on it, who will STAND at the Airport to pick you.

Once he pick you, he will move with you to the security firm where you will perform the signing documents and also proceed to the Turkey Bank to use the fund to open an account in your name to get the fund assimilated into the Banking system and also transfer the fund to your UK Account.

The payment of the COT will be paid in side their office where the process will be done. Turkey operates on Weekends.

Also, before that, Zazah wrote about the ‘Turkey officer’ who he is in contact with. Given the importance of the transaction, the officer should come himself to the airport and it is also imperative for ‘security purpose’ that the picture of the ‘Turkey officer’ (who supposedly is given the money) is provided.

I wonder what reaction I'd get if I replied to a mail, seemingly from him, although he never in fact sent it. I could thank him for the photo and say I'd be sure to look out for that distinctive suit or somesuch. Maybe it would help him to see the value of sending me his own agent's photo. There is nothing difficult for you to understand. I simply want my trip to be as smooth and stress free as possible. I will not be getting into a car, with someone unknown to me, while carrying a large amount of cash. I realize that £5000 probably doesn't seem like a large amount to you but it does to me. I need a photo of the driver who will pick me up at the airport. He must be holding a card with my name on it, just as he will appear in the arrivals lounge to greet me. If you can ask him to wear the same suit as in the photo, when he collects me, that would be even better. If he has a beard in the picture, tell him not to shave it off before meeting me. If he will be wearing glasses when he meets me, he should wear them in the photo. I find it difficult to recognize people, even my neighbours!

I'm only going to Turkey in order to help you. I've been reading in the news that it's a country one is advised not to visit anyway. Not as dangerous as Afghanistan or Somalia, that's true, but in the next tier down as regards risk. Turkey is classified as "Level 3: reconsider travel". So I am taking that advice and reconsidering. I'm quite happy to wait until you next visit the uk if you would prefer that.

I must say you are the one that is not serious. I have given you the Passport of the manager who is in charge of the transaction and also the lady that will pick you from the airport.

These are given by the Manager, you and I , are not in any obligation to detect to them on how they carry out our transfer as they are guided by our Banking principles for which their Bank is built and operates.

You are advised to follow religiously all given instruction until the fund gets into your UK account and therefore can not question your integrity at this stage of the transaction because its late now.

On reflection, when Jim was first told that he should go to Turkey, he should have converted the payment into Turkish Lira and agreed to pay that amount. The rate at which the Lira is dropping against the Dollar would add an interesting extra pressure.

Could I clarify this with you? Is that fee of £4200 to cover the entire transfer of $14m into my account? Or is it just an initial payment for the firm to hold on account and then offset against the final invoice?

Where is their office? If it's in London, I could probably drop off the payment in the next couple of days.

Perhaps, just before Mr. Jim would transfer the money, a lien is placed on his bank account (he didn’t pay alimony bills? owes someone money?) so that his account is frozen. The only option would be to pay in cash
